Al Unser Jr Autographs
Al Unser Jr is an American retired race car driver who was born on April 19, 1962, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is known as one of the most successful and accomplished racers in the entire history of the sport. He is the son of legendary race car driver Al Unser Sr and the nephew of Bobby Unser. Al Unser Jr began his racing career in the early 1980s at local dirt tracks in New Mexico, but it was not until he joined the CART series in the mid-1980s that he became a true force to be reckoned with.
In 1992, Al Unser Jr won his first Indianapolis 500 race, beating out Scott Goodyear by the closest margin in the history of the race. He won two more Indianapolis 500 races in 1994 and 1999, totaling 34 Champ Car victories in all. Unser was especially dominant in the Super Vee and Can-Am series, where he won a total of three championships. However, he did not just dominate on the oval. He also had great success on road courses, winning consecutive CART PPG Cup championships in 1990 and 1994. He also had successful stints in the IROC, Sports Car, and NASCAR series.
Overall, Al Unser Jr is a man who has accomplished a great deal in his racing career. He is one of the most respected and admired drivers of his time, and his impressive list of accomplishments speak for themselves. He retired in 2007, at the age of 45, after racing for over three decades. Today, he continues to be involved in the racing world, running driving schools and also promoting Operation Lifesaver, a program dedicated to teaching children about railway safety.
