Alexi Casilla is a retired Major League Baseball player that was born in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic, on July 20th, 1984. He started his professional baseball career in 2003, as a member of the Minnesota Twins' minor league system, playing for the Quad Cities River Bandits. He quickly worked his way up to the majors and made his debut with the Twins on September 3rd, 2006, at the age of 22. Casilla's best season in his career came in 2008 when he played in a career-high 98 games, batting a career-high .281 with one home run, and 30 RBI. He was instrumental in the Twins' playoff race, as they won the American League Central Division title that season. He also played a significant role in the playoffs, where he helped the Twins win the American League Division Series against the Oakland Athletics. He hit the game-winning single in the 12th inning of game 163 of the regular season against the Chicago White Sox to send the Twins to the playoffs.

Casilla retired in 2018 after playing his final season with the Atlantic League's New Britain Bees. He ended his career with a batting average of .247, 12 home runs, and 166 RBI. He is remembered as an energetic and positive teammate on the field, with a passion for the game that he played with every day. Since his retirement, he has worked as a coach for the Twins' minor league affiliate, the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels. His contributions to the game of baseball have left a lasting impact, and his legacy continues to inspire young players in the Dominican Republic and beyond.
