Andre Dawson Autographs
Andre Dawson, nicknamed "The Hawk," was a formidable force in Major League Baseball for 21 seasons from 1976 to 1996. He began his career with the Montreal Expos, where he quickly established himself as a star, winning the National League Rookie of the Year award in 1977. During his 11 years with the Expos, Dawson showcased his exceptional all-around skills, earning three All-Star selections, six Gold Glove Awards, and three Silver Slugger Awards.
In 1987, Dawson famously signed a blank contract with the Chicago Cubs, allowing the team to fill in the salary. This bold move paid off as he had a career year, hitting 49 home runs and driving in 137 runs, earning him the National League MVP award despite the Cubs finishing in last place. Dawson's time with the Cubs solidified his status as one of the game's elite players, adding to his collection of accolades with four more All-Star selections and two more Gold Glove Awards.
Throughout his career, Dawson demonstrated remarkable consistency and versatility, finishing with 2,774 hits, 438 home runs, 314 stolen bases, and a .279 batting average. He joined Willie Mays and Barry Bonds as the only players in MLB history with over 400 home runs and 300 stolen bases. Despite battling chronic knee problems that required multiple surgeries, Dawson's perseverance and work ethic were widely admired in the baseball community. His outstanding career culminated in his induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010.
