Bert BlylevenBert Blyleven is a former professional baseball player who was born on April 6, 1951, in the Netherlands. He moved to the United States with his family when he was just two years old. Blyleven's father, Joe, was also a professional baseball player, spending five seasons in the major leagues as a catcher.
Blyleven was a right-handed pitcher who played in the major leagues from 1970 to 1992. He played for five different teams during his career, including the Minnesota Twins, Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, Pittsburgh Pirates, and California Angels. He had an impressive career, winning 287 games, striking out 3,701 batters, and throwing 60 shutouts. He was known for his curveball, which was one of the best in the game, and he was often referred to as "the Dutch Master."
In 2011, Blyleven was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, which was a well-deserved honor for the talented pitcher. His impressive career stats and contributions to the game made him a great player and a valuable asset to any team he played for. He continues to be involved in the baseball community today, working as a commentator for the Minnesota Twins and coaching young players.
