Carpenter made his MLB debut in 1997 and spent six seasons with the Blue Jays, where he recorded a 49-50 record and 4.83 ERA in 150 starts. In 2002, he signed with the Cardinals, and it was here where he achieved great success. Carpenter had his all-star seasons from 2004-2006, where he won a Cy Young Award in 2005 and helped the Cardinals win the World Series in 2006. Throughout his career, he recorded an impressive 144-94 record with a 3.76 ERA in 350 starts. Carpenter unfortunately battled injuries and was forced to retire in 2012 at the age of 37.

Carpenter's success came from his unique pitching style, which included a heavy sinker and a curveball that was tough for hitters to distinguish from his fastball. He was known for his work ethic and desire to win, and his performance in big games made him one of the most reliable pitchers in baseball. Carpenter's baseball legacy has left a huge impact on the sport, and he remains a respected figure by baseball enthusiasts to this day. Read even more about Chris Carpenter at Wikipedia
