Morgan's time with the Pirates was short-lived as he was traded to the Washington Nationals in June 2009. It was with the Nationals where Morgan had the best year of his career. He hit .307 with 42 stolen bases that season and was one of the best defensive outfielders in the league. Morgan's time with the Nationals was also marked by his infamous collision with Marlins catcher Brett Hayes, which resulted in a bench-clearing brawl. After the 2010 season, Morgan was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers where he had another solid season, hitting .304 with 13 stolen bases.

Morgan's career began to decline after his time with the Brewers, playing for multiple teams before being released by the Cleveland Indians in 2017. In his nine-year career, Morgan hit .282 with 117 stolen bases and was known for his speed and defensive skills. He also gained a reputation for his colorful personality and antics on and off the field, earning the nickname "Tony Plush." After retiring from baseball, Morgan pursued a career in coaching and continued to make occasional appearances on social media and in the media. Read even more about Nyjer Morgan at Wikipedia
