Dave Duncan is a former professional baseball player and coach, known for his successful career as a catcher in the Major Leagues and later as a highly respected pitching coach. Born on September 26, 1945, in Dallas, Texas, Duncan grew up playing baseball and was eventually signed as an amateur free agent by the Kansas City Athletics in 1963. After a few years in the minor leagues, he made his debut in the Major Leagues with the Athletics in 1964, but it wasn't until he was traded to the Cleveland Indians in 1967 that he began to establish himself as a starting catcher. Over the course of his 11-year playing career, Dave Duncan played for several teams, including the Athletics, Indians, and Baltimore Orioles, and was known for his strong defensive skills and ability to handle pitchers.
