Francisco Cervelli is a retired Venezuelan professional baseball catcher. He was born on March 6, 1986, in Valencia, Venezuela. Cervelli began his professional baseball career with the New York Yankees organization in 2005. Cervelli played for the Yankees from 2008 to 2014 before being traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in November 2014. He spent the next five seasons with the Pirates, where he established himself as a premier defensive catcher. He set a National League record in 2015 when he caught 98.3 percent of attempted base stealers. During his time with the Pirates, Cervelli was also a valued leader in the clubhouse, known for his positive attitude, work ethic, and love for the game.

After a brief stint with the Atlanta Braves in 2019, Cervelli announced his retirement from professional baseball on October 10, 2019. Over his 12-year career, he batted .268 with 38 home runs and 283 RBIs in 730 games. Known for his defensive prowess and leadership abilities, Cervelli was a respected player on and off the field.
