Cueto began his baseball career at a young age in the Dominican Republic, and in 2004, he was signed by the Cincinnati Reds as an amateur free agent. During the 2015 season, Cueto was traded to the Kansas City Royals, where he played a significant role in their World Series championship win that year. He had a superb postseason run with a 2.51 ERA and three wins, leading the team to victory in the American League Championship Series and the World Series. In 2016, he signed a six-year deal with the San Francisco Giants, where he continued to perform well, making his third All-Star appearance in 2016.
