Larry Parrish

Larry Parrish is a former Major League Baseball player and coach who had a successful career both on and off the field. Born in 1953 in Montgomery, Alabama, Parrish began playing baseball early on and was eventually signed as a free agent by the Montreal Expos in 1974. He spent the majority of his playing career with the Texas Rangers, where he played third base and spent time as a designated hitter. Parrish was known for his power hitting, with 256 home runs over his 15-year career, and was twice named an All-Star in 1979 and 1987. More about Larry Parrish

After retiring from playing in 1988, Parrish went on to have a successful coaching career. He started as a hitting coach for the Rangers in 1990, where he helped develop future Hall of Famer Ivan Rodriguez. Parrish then went on to coach for the Milwaukee Brewers, Detroit Tigers, and Seattle Mariners, and was known for his work with young players. In addition to his coaching career, Parrish also managed several Minor League teams, including the Toledo Mud Hens and the Round Rock Express.

In 2010, Parrish returned to the Tigers organization as the bench coach, where he helped lead the team to the World Series in 2012. He continued to coach for the team until 2015, when he stepped down to enjoy retirement. Parrish is remembered for his contributions to the game of baseball both as a player and coach, and for his dedication to helping young players develop their skills.
