Mike PiazzaMike Piazza is a retired baseball catcher who was born on September 4, 1968, in Pennsylvania. He is widely known for his successful baseball career, which spanned over 16 years, and his contribution to the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets. Piazza began his baseball career in 1992 when he was drafted by the Dodgers in the 62nd round of the MLB draft. He quickly proved his talent and became known as one of the best catchers of his time.
Piazza played for the Dodgers from 1992 to 1998 and quickly became a fan favorite. He won the National League Rookie of the Year award in 1993, thanks to his impressive batting skills. During his time with the Dodgers, he hit 177 home runs and maintained a batting average of .331. However, in 1998, he was traded to the Florida Marlins and later to the Mets, where he spent the majority of his career.
During his time with the Mets, Piazza continued to prove his talent, breaking numerous records and becoming an eight-time All-Star. He played his last game for the Oakland Athletics in 2007 before retiring from baseball. Piazza was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016, solidifying his legacy as one of the greatest catchers in baseball history. His career stats include 427 home runs, 1,335 RBIs, and a batting average of .308.
