Mike Stanton is a former professional baseball player who is most notably known for his career in Major League Baseball (MLB). Stanton was born on June 2, 1967, and grew up in Houston, Texas. He attended Alvin Community College, where he played baseball for two years before being drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 13th round of the 1987 MLB Draft. More about Mike Stanton

Stanton made his MLB debut with the Braves in 1989 and quickly established himself as a reliable closer. He regularly recorded saves in his first few seasons with the team, including a career-high 27 saves in 1991. After four seasons with the Braves, Stanton moved to the Boston Red Sox in 1995, where he spent only one season. The next year, he signed with the New York Yankees, where he spent the bulk of his career and became a fan favorite.
