Peter Gammons is one of the most respected baseball writers and analysts of all time. Born on April 9, 1945, in Boston, Massachusetts, he grew up in Groton and graduated from the University of North Carolina. Gammons spent much of his career as a baseball analyst and reporter for ESPN, where he covered the MLB from 1989 to 2009. During this time, he became a household name, known for his extensive knowledge of the game and his impeccable reporting. He won the J.G. Taylor Spink Award for outstanding baseball writing from the Baseball Writers Association of America in 2004.
