Born in Tampa, Florida, Raburn first started playing baseball as a child and excelled in the sport throughout his teenage years. Throughout his career, Raburn played as both an infielder and outfielder and became known for his versatility on the field. He was particularly successful during his time with the Detroit Tigers, where he was a regular starter from 2009 to 2012. During the 2009 season, Raburn had a career-high batting average of .291 and hit 16 home runs, helping the Tigers reach the playoffs. In 2013, Raburn signed with the Cleveland Indians, where he played for four seasons before being traded to the Colorado Rockies in 2017.
