Al HarringtonAl Harrington is a former American professional basketball player who excelled in the NBA during his career. He was born on February 17, 1980, in Orange, New Jersey. Harrington started playing basketball at a young age and quickly developed his skills in the sport. He played for St. Patrick High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where he earned a reputation as one of the best high school basketball players in the country.
After graduating from high school in 1998, Harrington entered the NBA draft and was selected by the Indiana Pacers with the 25th overall pick in the first round. He spent the first six years of his career with the Pacers, making significant contributions to the team's success. In 2004, he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks, where he continued to play at a high level. He played for a total of 16 seasons, with stints at various teams including the Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic, and Washington Wizards. Throughout his career, he was known for his versatility, ability to score from long range, and his durability.
Harrington retired from professional basketball in 2015 with a career average of 13.5 points per game, 5.6 rebounds per game, and 1.7 assists per game. He also won several awards and honors, including being named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 1999 and winning the NBA Sixth Man Award in 2010. Beyond basketball, Harrington remains active in various business ventures, including the cannabis industry. He is also involved in charitable causes and has established the Al Harrington Foundation to support underprivileged youth in his hometown of Orange, New Jersey.
