Kirk HinrichKirk Hinrich is a former professional basketball player born on January 2, 1981, in Sioux City, Iowa. Hinrich began his basketball career at high school level earning Iowa's Mr. Basketball accolade and was subsequently recruited to play for the University of Kansas Jayhawks. He spent four seasons at Kansas where he emerged as a standout player, earning All-American honors twice and leading the Jayhawks to the Final Four in 2002. In 2003, Hinrich was drafted as the seventh overall pick by the Chicago Bulls.
Hinrich made his NBA debut in the 2003-2004 season for the Chicago Bulls and had an impressive rookie season where he averaged 12 points per game and earned himself a spot on the All-Rookie First Team. Hinrich played for the Bulls for seven seasons, making the playoffs five times and helping his team reach the Eastern Conference Finals in 2007. Hinrich was known for his gritty play, solid defense, ball-handling abilities, and a lethal jump shot. In 2010, Hinrich was traded to the Washington Wizards, where he spent two seasons before being traded back to the Bulls, where he retired in 2016.
Throughout his career, Hinrich was a fan favorite and one of the most beloved players in Bulls history. He finished his NBA career with 9303 points, 4098 assists, and 1997 rebounds, making him one of the most decorated players of his generation. Hinrich's jersey was retired by the University of Kansas, an honor that only a few players have received, and he has also been inducted into the Iowa High School Basketball Hall of Fame. Hinrich is now a player development coach for the Chicago Bulls.
