James "Buster" Douglas was born on April 7, 1960, in Columbus, Ohio. His father, a professional boxer, trained him from a young age, and he quickly became a formidable fighter. In 1980, at the age of 20, Douglas turned pro, and he quickly established himself as a talented, hard-hitting heavyweight.
