Billy Kilmer Autographs
Billy Kilmer was a renowned quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) during the 1960s and 1970s. Born on September 5, 1939, in Topeka, Kansas, Kilmer started out playing college football at the University of California, Los Angeles. He went on to play professionally for three teams: the San Francisco 49ers, the New Orleans Saints, and the Washington Redskins.
Kilmer's football career began in 1961 when he was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers. He spent four seasons with the 49ers, but he was mainly the backup quarterback for much of that time. In 1967, Kilmer was traded to the New Orleans Saints, where he spent three seasons as the starting quarterback. During that time, he played in every game and set franchise records for touchdowns and completions. He is still considered one of the best quarterbacks to have played for the Saints.
However, Kilmer's football legacy is most associated with his tenure with the Washington Redskins. He played for Washington from 1971 to 1978 and led the Redskins to their first Super Bowl appearance in 1973. Kilmer was known for his toughness on the field, frequently playing through injuries. He retired after the 1978 season, and his career stats include nearly 20,000 passing yards and 152 touchdowns. Kilmer was inducted into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame in 1998 as well as being selected for the Washington Redskins Ring of Fame in 1995.
