Emmitt Thomas Autographs
Emmitt Thomas is a former American football player and coach who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 13 seasons. Born on June 3, 1943, in Angleton, Texas, Thomas attended Bishop High School and then proceeded to play college football at the University of Kansas. He was a standout cornerback at Kansas and went on to be drafted in the 18th round of the 1966 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.
Thomas spent his entire playing career with Kansas City Chiefs from 1966 to 1978, becoming one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL history. During his time with the Chiefs, Thomas was selected to five Pro Bowls and was a key member of the Chiefs' Super Bowl IV championship team. He finished his playing career with 58 interceptions and had seven touchdowns. Thomas was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2008, and the Chiefs' Ring of Honor in 1986.
After retiring from playing in 1979, Thomas went on to have a successful coaching career in the NFL. He served as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator for several teams including, the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles, and Atlanta Falcons. Thomas was instrumental in turning around the Falcons' defense in the 1998 season, when they made a historic run to the Super Bowl. In 2013, Thomas retired from coaching but left behind a remarkable legacy as one of the greatest cornerbacks and coaches in NFL history.
