After high school, Golden Tate played college football at the University of Notre Dame. He spent three seasons with the Fighting Irish from 2007–2009, amassing 157 catches for 2,707 yards and 26 touchdowns. Tate was a consensus All-American and was named the Biletnikoff Award winner in 2009 as the nation's top receiver. He then entered the 2010 NFL Draft and was selected in the second round by the Seattle Seahawks.

In his NFL career, Golden Tate played for the Seahawks, the Detroit Lions, and the New York Giants. He was known for his exceptional athleticism, great hands, and ability to make difficult catches in traffic. Tate had over 7,000 receiving yards and 44 touchdowns in his career, and he won the Super Bowl with the Seahawks in 2014. After retiring from football, Golden Tate began working as a media analyst and commentator for college football on Fox Sports.
