Tanguay spent most of his career playing for Colorado, forming a dominant line with center Peter Forsberg and winger Milan Hejduk. During his time with the Avalanche, he won the Stanley Cup in 2001 and played in two All-Star Games. After leaving Colorado, Tanguay played for several other NHL teams, including the Calgary Flames, Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Arizona Coyotes, before retiring in 2016.

Throughout his career, Tanguay was known for his natural talent, playmaking ability, and great vision on the ice. He scored a total of 283 goals and had 580 assists in 1088 NHL games, proving to be a valuable offensive threat.
