Matt Duchene is a Canadian professional ice hockey player, born on January 16, 1991. He was raised in Haliburton, Ontario, where he started playing hockey at a young age. Duchene’s hockey career started when he joined the Haliburton Huskies as a teenager. He then moved on to play for the Ontario Hockey League's Brampton Battalion, where he became known for his speed, agility, and scoring ability. Duchene’s performance in the OHL drew the attention of many teams in the National Hockey League.
In June 2009, Duchene was chosen third overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the NHL Entry Draft. His rookie campaign is one of the most impressive in recent history, as he scored 24 goals and earned 31 assists in 81 games. Serving as the centerman, he was highly praised for his outstanding skating ability and his impressive stickhandling skills. Duchene has been prolific throughout his NHL career, racking up notable accomplishments such as scoring his 500th career point in the 2019-20 season as a member of the Nashville Predators.
