Paul Stastny is a Czech-American professional ice hockey player with a longstanding career in the National Hockey League (NHL). Born in Quebec City, Canada in 1985, Stastny was raised in a family deeply entrenched in the world of hockey. His father, Peter Stastny, was a legendary NHL forward who played for several teams including the Quebec Nordiques, the St. Louis Blues, and the New Jersey Devils. Stastny was drafted in the second round by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He helped the team reach the playoffs in his first year, and became one of the most significant players in the Avalanche team for several years. In 2008-09, Stastny finished with a career-high 79 points, positioning him among the league's top scorers. His offensive prowess continued to grow, as he went on to lead the Avalanche to many successful games while serving as their captain.
