Ron Hextall is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who spent over a decade playing in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born in Manitoba in 1964, and played his junior hockey with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League. Hextall made his NHL debut in 1986 with the Philadelphia Flyers, and quickly made an impact with his aggressive style of play. He was known for venturing out of his crease to play the puck, an unusual tactic at the time that eventually became a trademark of his game.
