Bip Roberts Autograph

Bip Roberts, short for Leon Joseph Roberts III, is a former American Major League Baseball player born on October 27, 1963, in Berkeley, California. Roberts attended Skyline High School in Oakland, California, where he played football and baseball. After high school, he went on to play college baseball at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In 1982, he was drafted in the first round by the Pittsburgh Pirates but did not sign, he was drafted again by the San Diego Padres in the first round in 1984, and this time he signed. Roberts made his Major League Baseball debut with the San Diego Padres on July 6, 1986, against the Chicago Cubs. He played for the Padres for four seasons and was later traded to the Cincinnati Reds in 1991 in exchange for two players. Roberts had his best season in 1992 with the Reds where he batted .323, recorded 180 hits and stole 52 bases, which was top in the National League that year. He also played for the Kansas City Royals, Oakland Athletics, and the New York Mets before retiring in 1998.

Bip Roberts was known for being a versatile player and could play various positions such as second base, third base, and outfield. He was a speedy player, making him an excellent base runner and base stealer. In his career, he recorded 1,098 hits, 347 RBIs, and 264 stolen bases in 1,056 games played.
