Bard was known for his blazing fastball and devastating slider, and he quickly established himself as one of the most promising young pitchers in baseball. He spent the majority of his first three seasons in the majors as a setup man for the Red Sox, where he posted impressive numbers out of the bullpen. However, in 2012, Bard struggled with his control and was sent down to the minors to work on his mechanics. Unfortunately, he was never able to regain his form, and he was eventually released by the Red Sox in 2013.

Following his release from the Red Sox, Bard bounced around the minor leagues for several years, trying to find his way back to the majors. He had brief stints with the Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers, and Pittsburgh Pirates, but he never pitched in a major league game again. Despite his struggles, Bard will always be remembered as one of the most talented young pitchers of his generation, with a fastball that regularly clocked in above 100 MPH and a slider that left hitters wondering what just happened.
