Storen began his professional career in 2009 when he was drafted by the Washington Nationals as the 10th pick in the first round of the Major League Baseball draft. He quickly rose through the Nationals minor league system and made his major league debut in May 2010. Storen spent most of his career as a closer, racking up 99 saves for the Nationals between 2010 and 2014. In the 2014 playoffs, Storen famously blew a save in the ninth inning of game five of the National League Division Series against the San Francisco Giants, which some say marked the beginning of the end of his tenure in Washington.

Storen went on to play for a few other teams, including the Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners, Cincinnati Reds, and the Kansas City Royals, before retiring in 2020. Over his ten-year career, Storen compiled a 3.45 ERA and 367 strikeouts in 394 innings pitched. Despite his tumultuous end in Washington, Storen will be remembered as one of the most dominant closers of his time, who had a knack for getting the job done in high-pressure situations.
