Eric Young, born in New Brunswick, New Jersey in 1967, is a former professional baseball player who played from 1992 to 2006. He started his baseball career as a leadoff hitter and outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Young was an all-star in 1996, and won the National League stolen base title in 1996 and 1999. He also played for other Major League Baseball (MLB) teams, including the Milwaukee Brewers, Colorado Rockies, Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers, San Francisco Giants, and the San Diego Padres. During his career, Eric Young established himself as a versatile player, playing second base, shortstop, third base and outfield.
Young retired from baseball in 2006, and his contributions to the sport were celebrated when he was inducted into the New Jersey Sports Writers Association Hall of Fame in 2013. In addition to his success on the field, Young is also remembered for his philanthropic work, including the Eric Young Foundation, which helps children with hearing disabilities. After retirement from his playing career, he transitioned to a role as a commentator and analyst for the MLB network, where he continues to be a respected voice for the game.
