Perkins was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the first round of the 2004 Major League Baseball draft, and he made his debut in 2006. He quickly established himself as one of the best relief pitchers in the league, finishing third in the Rookie of the Year vote in 2008. Over the course of his career, Perkins appeared in 624 games, recording 120 saves, and striking out 595 batters. Glen was also a three-time All-Star and a recipient of the prestigious Mariano Rivera American League Reliever of the Year Award.

Despite his achievements on the mound, Perkins' career was plagued by injuries, and he ultimately announced his retirement in 2018. However, his legacy continues to live on, and he remains a beloved figure in Minnesota. Off the field, Perkins was well known for his charity work, and he founded the "Perkins Family Foundation'' to assist children and families in need.
