Benoit began his baseball career in 1996 when he signed with the Texas Rangers as an amateur free agent. He made his debut in the Major Leagues in 2001, and he played with several teams throughout his 15-year career, including the Detroit Tigers, San Diego Padres, and Seattle Mariners. Benoit was primarily a relief pitcher and had a successful career, earning a reputation as a reliable reliever. He had a career record of 58-49 with 51 saves, a 3.83 earned run average (ERA), and 789 strikeouts.
