Sandy Alomar is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) catcher and coach who was born on June 18, 1966, in Salinas, Puerto Rico. Alomar grew up in a family that was heavily involved in baseball, as his father and two brothers were also professional players. He made his MLB debut in 1988 with the San Diego Padres and spent 20 seasons in the league, playing for several teams including the Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox, and Texas Rangers. Alomar's most notable achievements came during his time with the Cleveland Indians, where he spent 11 seasons as a player and later returned as a coach. He was a six-time All-Star and won the Gold Glove Award in 1990, in addition to helping lead the Indians to five playoff appearances and two World Series appearances in 1995 and 1997.
