Scott started his professional career in 2001 when the Arizona Diamondbacks drafted him in the third round. He gradually climbed the ranks of MLB and made his debut for the Diamondbacks in 2004. Scott also played for a variety of teams, including the San Diego Padres, New York Mets, and the Oakland Athletics. He earned a reputation as a clutch hitter and hit 20 or more home runs in three different seasons during his career. Scott's best season was perhaps in 2010 when he hit 10 home runs in July and August for the San Diego Padres, playing a crucial role in helping the team qualify for the playoffs.
