Peter Budaj Autographs

Peter Budaj is a Slovakian former professional ice hockey goaltender who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for over a decade. Born on September 18, 1982, in Banska Bystrica, Czechoslovakia, Budaj began his hockey career with the Slovak Extraliga's HC Banska Bystrica. He was a talented prospect, and the Colorado Avalanche selected him in the second round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Budaj spent his freshman year playing in the minor leagues before making his NHL debut with the Avalanche in 2005. After playing backup to Jose Theodore, he became the team's starting netminder in 2006, following Theodore's injury. Budaj played a considerable part in leading the Avalanche to the playoffs that season, where they eventually lost to the Anaheim Ducks. For four seasons, he cemented his place as the team's starting goaltender before being traded to the Montreal Canadiens in 2011. He also played for the Los Angeles Kings and the Tampa Bay Lightning before retiring in 2020.
Throughout his hockey career, Budaj made 361 appearances, with a record of 158 wins, 131 losses, and 42 ties or overtime defeats. He recorded a total of 19 shutouts, 9089 saves, and a save percentage of 0.904. In addition, he represented Slovakia at several international tournaments, including the 2006 Winter Olympics and six times in World Championship events. Despite never winning a Stanley Cup, Budaj's career statistics and longevity in the league made him a respected and beloved figure within the hockey community.
