Edwin Encarnacion is a professional baseball player from the Dominican Republic. Born on January 7, 1983, in La Romana, Encarnacion has established himself as one of the most reliable hitters in Major League Baseball. He made his debut in 2005 with the Cincinnati Reds and played there for seven seasons before being traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in 2009. Throughout his career, Encarnacion has proven to be an offensive powerhouse. He has hit over 30 home runs in 7 seasons and driven in over 100 runs in 5 seasons. Encarnacion's 42 home runs in 2016 tied him for the American League record for home runs hit by a designated hitter. He also had a 26-game hitting streak during the 2015 season, the longest in the Blue Jays' franchise history. Encarnacion's consistency at the plate has made him one of the most feared hitters in the game.

Encarnacion has also been a valuable asset defensively throughout his career. Although he primarily plays first base or designated hitter, he has also played third base, left field, and right field. His versatility and willingness to change positions have made him a valuable player for his teams. Off the field, Encarnacion is also known for his charitable work.
