Francoeur began his professional baseball career when he was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the first round of the 2002 MLB draft. Holding his position predominantly as a right-field player, he played for the Braves until 2009. Francoeur received significant attention, making him a fan favorite and often being described as one of the best young players in baseball.

Throughout his MLB career, Francoeur played for several teams, including the New York Mets, the Texas Rangers, the Kansas City Royals, the San Francisco Giants, the San Diego Padres, and the Miami Marlins. Francoeur retired from his baseball career in 2019, after playing one final season in the Independent Atlantic League.
