Mark Ellis Autographs
Mark Ellis is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) player who played for 12 seasons with five different teams, including the Oakland Athletics, Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals, and the Atlanta Braves. Born on June 6, 1977, in Rapid City, South Dakota, Ellis attended Florida State University, where he played college baseball and was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the ninth round of the 1999 MLB draft. Ellis began his professional baseball career in the minor leagues, where he played for four seasons before making his MLB debut with the Oakland Athletics in 2002.
Ellis's MLB career was defined by his exceptional defensive skills and his ability to hit for power and average. He won the American League Gold Glove Award in 2006, which recognizes the best defensive player at each position in the league, and was a finalist for the award four other times. Ellis was also known for his clutch hitting and played an important role in the Oakland Athletics' success during the early 2000s, helping the team reach the playoffs in 2003, 2006, and 2012. In addition to his time with the Athletics, Ellis also played a significant role in the success of the Colorado Rockies during their 2007 World Series run, batting .400 in the National League Championship Series.
After retiring from baseball in 2014, Ellis became a special assistant to the general manager for the St. Louis Cardinals and later joined the San Diego Padres as a bench coach. Ellis's exceptional career as a defensive second baseman and his contributions to the success of multiple MLB teams have earned him a place among the best defensive players of his generation.
