Robinson Cano is a Dominican-American former professional baseball second baseman. He was born on October 22, 1982, in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic. Cano's father, Jose, was also a professional baseball player for six seasons in the Houston Astros organization. Cano made his debut in Major League Baseball (MLB) with the New York Yankees in 2005. He quickly established himself as a powerful hitter and a reliable fielder. He became an All-Star player in his second season and won many awards during his time with the Yankees, including five Silver Slugger Awards, two Gold Gloves, and finished in the top six in American League MVP voting six times. In 2013, Cano signed a ten-year contract with the Seattle Mariners, which was then the largest contract ever given to a second baseman.
