Evgeni Nabokov Autographs
Evgeni Nabokov is a retired ice hockey goalkeeper of Russian descent. He was born on July 25, 1975, in Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan, then part of the Soviet Union. Nabokov began playing hockey in his home country when he was six years old. He played for the Kamenogorsk metallurgist factory's youth team, where he learned the basics of the game.
Nabokov's professional hockey career began when he joined the San Jose Sharks in 1999. During his time with the Sharks, he became one of the best goalkeepers in the league, earning the AHL Goalkeeper of the Year award in the 1999-2000 season. In his first season with San Jose, Nabokov posted a total of 32 victories, setting the record for most victories by a rookie goaltender at the time. He also played in the NHL All-Star Game in 2001, where he was named the game's most valuable player. Nabokov continued his impressive performance, leading the Sharks to the Pacific Division championship in 2002-03 and earning the Calder Memorial Trophy for Rookie of the Year that same season.
Nabokov retired from professional hockey in 2015, but his legacy in the sport lives on. He is remembered as one of the most accomplished Russian goaltenders in NHL history, earning a total of 347 victories and a save percentage of .911 over his career. He also played for the Russian national team, representing his country in international tournaments such as the Winter Olympics and the World Hockey Championship. Nabokov's career is a testament to the dedication and hard work it takes to become a successful athlete, and his contributions to the sport are an inspiration to young hockey players around the world.
