Carlos Gonzalez is a Venezuelan former professional baseball outfielder. Gonzalez was born on October 17, 1985, in Maracaibo, Venezuela, where he began his baseball career. He was scouted and signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2002, and he played for their minor league affiliates before making his Major League Baseball debut in 2008. During his professional career, Gonzalez played for four teams, including the Arizona Diamondbacks, Oakland Athletics, Colorado Rockies, and Chicago Cubs. While playing for the Rockies, he established himself as one of the best players in the league. He won three Gold Gloves and two Silver Slugger awards while also being named an All-Star three times. Gonzalez helped lead the Rockies to their first-ever National League pennant in 2007. In addition to his accolades, Gonzalez is also known for his charitable work, donating to organizations that aid children in both Venezuela and the United States.

After playing for 13 seasons, Gonzalez finished his career with a .287 batting average, 1,460 hits, 231 home runs, and 784 RBIs. He announced his retirement in October 2021, stating that he wanted to spend more time with his family. Gonzalez left a lasting impact on the sport of baseball and will go down as one of the best outfielders of his time.
