Fernando RodneyFernando Rodney is a former professional baseball player from the Dominican Republic. Born on March 18, 1977, he grew up in the town of Samana, where he began playing baseball at a young age. Rodney signed with the Detroit Tigers in 1997 as an amateur free agent, and he made his MLB debut in 2002. Over the course of his 17-year career, Rodney played for a total of ten teams, including the Tampa Bay Rays, Seattle Mariners, and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Rodney was known for his unique pitching style, which included a distinctive sideways cap and a dart-like delivery. He was also known for his fastball, which often reached speeds of over 90 miles per hour, and for his changeup, which was considered one of the best in the game. Throughout his career, Rodney played a variety of roles, including closer, setup man, and long reliever. He was a three-time All-Star, and in 2012, he won the American League saves title with 48.
