Ramon Santiago

Ramon Santiago was born on August 31, 1979, in Las Matas de Farfan in the Dominican Republic. He was a professional baseball infielder who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for thirteen seasons. Santiago was signed as an amateur free agent by the Detroit Tigers in 1998 and made his big league debut with them in 2002. Santiago was known for being a versatile player, able to play multiple positions on the field. He played second base, shortstop, and third base throughout his career. Santiago was also known for his defensive skills and was nominated for a Rawlings Gold Glove Award in 2012. In addition to his defensive prowess, he was also a solid hitter with a career batting average of .243 and 27 home runs.

Throughout his career, Santiago helped lead his teams to the playoffs multiple times. He was a part of the 2006 Detroit Tigers team that won the American League pennant and made it to the World Series, although they lost to the St. Louis Cardinals. Santiago retired after the 2014 season and ended his career with a .967 fielding percentage, making him one of the best defensive infielders in the game.
