Tim Wakefield was born in Melbourne, Florida in 1966. He attended Florida Tech where he played both baseball and basketball. Wakefield is most notable for his unique pitch, the knuckleball. He is considered to be one of the greatest knuckleball pitchers in baseball history. In total, he spent 19 seasons in the Majors, with 17 of them being with the Red Sox. He helped lead the Red Sox to the 2004 World Series championship, breaking the team's 86 year championship drought. Wakefield was known as a reliable starting pitcher and a dependable leader in the clubhouse.

Over the course of his career, Wakefield achieved many milestones including becoming the oldest player ever to win a game with a knuckleball, and he ranks second on the Red Sox all-time list for most wins by a pitcher. After retiring, Wakefield remained active in the Red Sox organization and currently serves as a commentator for their broadcasts.
