James Shields Autograph

James Shields was born on December 20, 1981, in Newhall, California. He attended William S. Hart High School in Santa Clarita, where he excelled in both baseball and football. Shields was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 16th round of the 2000 Major League Baseball draft. He spent several years in the minor leagues before making his major league debut on May 31, 2006, with the Devil Rays. Shields became a consistent starter for the Tampa Bay Rays, earning the nickname "Big Game James" for his impressive performances in high-pressure situations. He helped lead the Rays to the World Series in 2008, where he pitched a complete game in Game 2 against the Philadelphia Phillies. In 2011, he was selected to his first All-Star game and finished the season with a 16-12 record and a 2.82 ERA. Shields played with the Rays for seven seasons before being traded to the Kansas City Royals in 2013, where he continued his success on the mound.
